Lukashenko, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi sum up Egypt leader’s official visit to Belarus

Lukashenko, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi sum up Egypt leader’s official visit to Belarus

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The official visit of Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Belarus is over. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko took a decision to see his Egyptian counterpart off in person, which is a sign of a successful visit and deep friendship between the two leaders, BelTA has learned.

Before Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s departure, the leaders of the two countries held a brief talk in the airport.

The president of Egypt praised the hospitality provided to the Egyptian delegation in Belarus and the fact that Aleksandr Lukashenko had taken a decision to see him off in person: “Thank you for this good gesture. I would like to thank you for your hospitality and a warm welcome during the visit to your wonderful country.”

“I did nothing extraordinary. I met the same hospitality in Egypt. As for these early hours, I am a rural man. I am used to get up at 5 to start my working day. It is a great pleasure for me to meet you once again before your departure, hear your impressions of the visit,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said for his part that since the previous meeting in Egypt in 2017 the two leaders have established very warm and friendly relations. “We have reached mutual understanding in the interests of strengthening cooperation and bilateral relations between our countries for the benefit of Egypt and Belarus,” he said.

The president of Egypt added that his visit to Belarus had built on the agreements reached during the visit of the Belarusian head of state to Cairo. “The negotiations we had reflect the huge prospects we have for the development of bilateral relations. They also demonstrate what a great and charismatic person you are. It is always a great honor for me to meet you,” said Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Aleksandr Lukashenko gave the president of Egypt several presents, including Belarusian black caviar, strawberry and bread.

Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi paid an official visit to Belarus on 17-19 June. While in Belarus, he held official talks at the highest level and also met with the leadership of the Belarusian government and the National Assembly. The parties reaffirmed their readiness to expand bilateral relations in every area, including the trade and economic sector. The parties signed a cooperation roadmap for 2019-2020 and other documents.
