Listapadzik 2019 winners announced

MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – The winners of the children and youth film competition Listapadzik were announced in a ceremony in the Pioner movie theater in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The Golden Listapadzik award for the best film went to Steven Wouterlood’s My Extraordinary Summer with Tess (the Netherlands, Germany).

“We have chosen this film because it is commercially viable and has an interesting story that appeals to both children and adults. The film is easy to watch and tells us a story that resonates with children aged 11-12,” said Clara Suarez, chairperson of the jury, Argentina’s program director and founder of the Animachicos production company that makes films for children.

The special jury award went to Bulbul Can Sing by Rima Das (India).

The award for the best young actor/actress was presented to Emilie Bierre starring in A Colonia (Canada). Sonny van Utteren (My Extraordinary Summer with Tess, the Netherlands, Germany) was named the best adult actor in a film for children.

The Listapadzik festival featured seven films. The jury was composed of Argentina’s Clara Suarez, Germany’s Thomas Heinemann, and Belarus’ Vlada Senkova.

The 26th Minsk International Film Festival Listapad is running on 1-8 November 2019 under the slogan “To Joy”. The program of this year’s festival includes more than 150 films from 50 countries.
