MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Belarus’ Vice Premier Natalia Kochanova has led the organizing committee for the 45th meeting of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Minsk in 2016, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian government.
The organizing committee will develop and approve the relevant action plan, attract heads and specialists of the national governmental bodies and other state organizations in the work to prepare for the 45th meeting of the EOC General Assembly.
The organizing committee has comprised representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sport and Tourism Ministry, Trade Ministry, Culture Ministry, Minsk City Hall, the National Olympic Committee and other organizations.
Minsk got the right to host the EOC General Assembly at the 44th EOC General Assembly in Prague a month ago. The Belarusian capital will host the next meeting in November 2016. The presentation Minsk 2016 was held by First Vice President of Belarus’ National Olympic Committee Maxim Ryzhenkov. After that the procedure of voting took place, and the Belarusian capital became the winner. EOC President Patrick Hickey said that it will be an important and memorable visit to the Belarusian capital for the European Olympic family because Minsk has successfully hosted a number of sports events, including the 2014 IIHF World Championship.
