MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – Irina Krivko of Belarus shot clean to finish second in the women’s 12.5K mass start at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 3 in Le Grand Bornand, France, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian clocked 37:30.6 to finish 11.2 seconds behind the winner for her first-ever World Cup podium. Justine Braisaz of France won the women’s 12.5K mass start, with clean shooting in 37:19.4. The Belarusian held off Germany’s Laura Dahlmeier, who finished third, with two penalties, 19.9 seconds back.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Irina Krivko on her achievement and wished her every success in the future.
The Belarusian national team has won four medals on three World cups of the season. Nadezhda Skardino shot clean to claim her first-ever victory in the women’s 15K individual at BMW IBU World Cup 1 in Ostersund, Sweden. Darya Domracheva of Belarus shot clean for her first win of this season, taking the women’s 7.5K sprint in 22:40.2 at BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2 in Hochfilzen. On the following day she finished third in the women’s 10K pursuit. Irina Krivko took silver in the women’s 12.5K mass start at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 3.
Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia is leading the World Cup standings with 302 points. Justine Braisaz of France is second with 281 points. Three Belarusian biathletes make it to the top 25. Nadezhda Skardino and Irina Krivko are currently 18th and 19th with 164 points each. Darya Domracheva is 23rd with 135 points.
