FC Dinamo Brest clinch Belarus' champion title

MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – FC Dinamo Minsk edged FC Vitebsk 1-0 to claim their maiden Belarus' champion title, cutting short the 13-year winning streak of FC BATE, BelTA has learned.

Scoring a total of 72 points FC Dinamo Brest became out of reach for the 15-time Belarusian champion BATE Borisov. 

BATE Borisov blanked FC Dinamo Minsk 3-0 to take silver. Bronze went to FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk that lost 0-1 to FC Dinamo Minsk.

Despite a 3-2 win over FC Gorodeya, FC Gomel relegated.

The leader standings after 29 rounds: Dinamo Brest – 72 points, BATE – 67, Shakhtyor – 62, Dinamo Minsk – 50, Isloch – 46, and Torpedo BelAZ – 45.

Belarus president sends greetings to FC Dinamo Brest

MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated FC Dinamo Brest on winning gold medals at the Belarusian national football championship , BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Over a short period of time an excellent team was created in Brest. This team provided keen and tough competition for the leaders of Belarusian football, brought new ideas and bright emotions to the national championship. Thanks to the professional approach you managed to gain a foothold without state financing and win the hearts of numerous fans who jam-pack the stadium in Brest on a regular basis,” the message of greetings reads.

“You have proved that dreams come true and that every goal can be achieved with enough commitment and perseverance,” the head of state emphasized.

He expressed hope that the success of the football team from Brest will be an example for other teams and will give a new impetus to the development of football. The president wished tight-knit and hardworking FC Dinamo Brest to keep the momentum and to make a bold statement at the European level.
