“Results of the third forum and the two previous ones confirm the effectiveness of the chosen form of interaction between regions of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation as a significant way of intensifying cooperation between our countries, advancing allied, social, economic, scientific, R&D relations, educational, cultural and humanitarian ties,” the document reads. “The attention Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin pay to the forums of regions gives this bilateral platform a special status and increases the level of responsibility of the forum participants for fulfilling the forum’s decisions and recommendations.”

Apart from that, participants of the forum noted the historical and cultural affinity of the peoples of Belarus and Russia, the brotherly nature of bilateral ties. They drew attention to the need to further expand Belarusian-Russian interaction at the regional level for the sake of bolstering the Union State of Belarus and Russia, for developing the Eurasian Economic Union, for encouraging integration processes in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Participants of the forum confirmed that Belarus and Russia are strategic partners and closest allies. “Belarusian-Russian interaction is multifaceted and comprehensive and progressively advances in all areas of interest,” the forum’s outcome document reads.

The third Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia took place in Minsk on 7-8 June 2016 under the aegis of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
