MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko met with Belarusian biathlete, Honored Master of Sport, three-time 2014 Olympic champion, winner of the Big Crystal Globe at the 2014/2015 IBU World Cup, Hero of Belarus Darya Domracheva on 10 September, BelTA has learned.
The head of state asked about the preparation for the Legend Race – Biathlon Stars for Peace festival which will take place at the National Winter Olympic Training Center Raubichi on 12 September.
Darya Domracheva said that Raubichi is ready welcome both biathletes and fans. “I think all our fans deserve this festival. We want to demonstrate our cordiality and hospitality to biathlon fans,” Darya Domracheva said. In her words, the festival will help reveal possible organization flaws which should be eliminated before making bids for hosting large scale tournaments.
Alexander Lukashenko and Darya Domracheva also discussed the state affairs in the national biathlon team.
At the meeting Darya Domracheva presented a copy of the Big Crystal Globe to the President.
It is expected that the festival will bring together many biathlon legends. The festival will include supersprint and mixed relay competitions. Famous sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev will be the host of the event. The tickets will be sold to donate to the children’s hospice.
Apart from the competitions, athletes will take part in the autograph session, during which fans will be able to talk to their favorite biathletes and make photos with them. The most active biathlon fans will be able to compete at a special track.
The festival will include numerous open-air amusements. There will be a children’s town and a youth platform in Raubichi. Those who could not buy tickets with seats will watch the competitions on big screens. Guests of the festival will also taste dishes of national cuisines of those partaking in the tournament. Unique Belarusian souvenirs will be available in the Village of Artisans.
