Following the 2-3 defeat from Poles in the semifinal, the Belarusians found strength for one more interesting game. Rita Batura opened the score on the 3rd minute of the game. Krestina Popkova extended the advantage to 2-0. Germany, many-time European medalists and champions, tied up late in the first half – 2-2. Germany even took the lead in the second half 4-3. However, Rita Batura, Anastasia Syroyezhko and Krestina Popkova held off the rivals bringing a 6-5 win to their team.
The Netherlands clinched the European champion title routing Poland 6-2 in the final.
The Minsk Sport Arena also hosted Relegation Pool C games in which Ukraine, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria played in a draw (3-3).
Pool C standings: Ukraine – 7 points (3 games played), Czech Republic – 4 (3), Austria – 2 (3), Belgium – 2 (3).
