Belarus reduces self-isolation period to seven days

MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) - The Belarusian government has cut the period of self-isolation to seven days. The decision is formalized in Resolution No. 401 of 14 July 2021, which amends Resolutions No. 208 of 8 April 2020 "On the introduction of a restrictive measure" and No.624 of 30 October 2020 "On measures to prevent the spread of an infectious disease", BelTA informs with reference to the national legal internet portal.
The amendments to Resolution No. 208 provide for a reduction in the period of self-isolation for Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons who are recognized first-level contacts. Self-isolation will need to be observed within seven calendar days from the date of the last contact (previously ten days).
The amendments to Resolution No. 624 adjust the list of persons who are allowed to enter the country across land borders via road border checkpoints, simplified border checkpoints, checkpoints at railway stations, river ports. Now this list applies to foreign citizens and stateless persons.
In particular, the list has been supplemented by the following categories of citizens: foreigners arriving for education upon presentation of documents (copies of documents) of an academic institution of Belarus confirming the purpose of the trip (an invitation to study, an authorization note issued by an academic establishment, a certificate of enrollment, etc.); persons traveling for vaccination against COVID-19 infection; Russian citizens who travel from Kaliningrad Oblast by rail without changing trains on the way.
In line with the amendments, the requirement to self-isolate for seven days (previously ten days) since arrival in Belarus applies to Belarusians and foreign nationals who arrive from or have transited through countries that are on the list of states recording COVID-19 cases. The list is published on the website of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.
In addition, it is now allowed to use an original or a copy of a medical document proving a negative COVID-19 test result in paper or in the digital form, including in the COVID-19 Free Travel app. This applies to foreigners aged six and older (with exception of people having a permit for temporary or permanent residence in Belarus) arriving in the country.
Citizens of the EAEU member states over six years of age (with exception of people having a permit for temporary or permanent residence in Belarus) will be required to present a negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival in Belarus in the COVID-19 Free Travel app.
Under Resolution No.401, the Healthcare Ministry and the State Border Committee will take measures to inform foreigners about self-isolation rules by providing them with a booklet of these requirements, if necessary, translated into English.
The resolution comes into force on the day of its official publication.
