Belarus reaches Eurovision 2013 final

MALMO, 15 May (BelTA) – Belarusian act Alyona Lanskaya made it through to 2013 Eurovision Song Contest final on 14 May, BelTA has learnt.

Alyona Lanskaya and her song Solayoh was one of 10 acts voted for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest final on Tuesday night. It is the second time Belarus has reached the final since the show introduced two semifinals in 2008 (Belarus' band 3+2 were in the final in 2010) .

Moldova, Lithuania, Ireland, Estonia, Denmark, Russia, Belgium, Ukraine and the Netherlands also qualified for the final.

Alyona Lanskaya took the audience with her lovely energetic song Solayoh. Both the singer herself and her show contributed to the decision in her favor.

As it was expected the Eurovision final was reached by the contest’s favorites: Denmark’s Emmelie de Forest (Only Teardrops), Ukraine’s Zlata Ognevich (Gravity), Russia’s Dina Garipova (What If), and the Netherlands’ Anouk (Birds).

The news about Lithuania’s Andrius Pojavis (Something) reaching the final came as a surprise as the Lithuanian act was ranked the last among 16 acts in the press’ rating.

Among those who will also perform on 18 May will be Moldova’s Aliona Moon (O Mie), Ireland’s Ryan Dolan (Only Love Survives), Estonia’s Birgit (Et Uus Saaks Alguse) and Belgium’s Roberto Bellarosa (Love Kills).

Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Cyprus and Serbia did not make it into the final which is due to take place on Saturday, 18 May.
