MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Everything has been done in Belarus to make 1 September a true red-letter day for every school student, teacher, and parent. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he visited secondary school No. 56 in Minsk on 31 August, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko underlined that a lot of public funds had been poured into the effort. “We believe these are important investments in the country’s future, in the new generation of citizens that will revere and keep safe our country. Human resources are our key asset and accomplishment. No expense can be spared for it,” said the President.
“It is important for us to get children ready for the school,” noted the President. “Every school student has a sufficient number of textbooks, exercise books, other school accessories. Sport gear is available in sufficient amounts.” Educational institutions have been renovated, sport facilities have been reconstructed, territories around schools have been beautified, said Alexander Lukashenko.
Alexander Lukashenko congratulated first-form students by saying: “This day is one of the most memorable events for our first-form students. It is the day when the long road to knowledge and adulthood begins.” The Belarusian head of state encouraged teachers to do everything to give proper care and attention to the kids. “May the first academic year bring a lot of interesting revelations and a lot of new knowledge,” said the President. He encouraged school students to explore all the opportunities opening up before them. He told them not to waste time but dedicate their leisure to sports, book reading, and useful public-spirited endeavors.
