MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – Marina Litvinchuk of Belarus clinched her third gold medal of the 2015 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Milan winning the K1 5000m event on 23 August, BelTA informs.
The Belarusian covered the distance in 22:36.06 to celebrate the victory. Second was Lani Belcher of the UK finishing in 22:40.02. Bronze went to Elimie Fournel of Canada (22:43.59).
Marina Litvinchuk also won the K2 200m gold in pair with Margarita Makhneva as well as the K4 500m gold.
This season Marina Litvinchuk claimed the champion title of the First European Games in Baku in the K1 5000m and K2 200m races.
The sixth place and the license for the Rio Games were got by C2 1000m Olympic champions Alexander and Andrei Bogdanovich who were behind the winners from Brazil 1.917 seconds. The men’s K4 team of Pavel Medvedev, Andrei Tsarikovich, Vitaly Belko and Roman Petrushenko finished 8th in the final to get the Olympic Games berth.
Oleg Yurenya claimed bronze in the men’s K1 5000m event finishing in 20:11.91. Gold was taken by Australia, with silver going to Germany.
The Belarusian national team finished the competitions in Milan in the second position with 5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. Germany topped the team medal table with 13 (5, 3, 5) medals. Third was Australia with 8 (5, 2, 1) medals. Belarus also won 12 Olympic berths for the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.
