Team Denmark come to Minsk

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – Team Denmark arrived in Minsk for the 2014 IIHF World Championship on 7 May, BelTA has learned.

Denmark’s roster for the upcoming championship is as follows:

goaltenders - Sebastian Dahm (Rodovre Mighty Bulls), Patrick Galbraith (Karlskrona HK), Simon Nielsen (Lukko Rauma);

defensemen: Phillip Bruggisser (Kristianstads IK), Jesper B. Jensen (Rogle Angelholm), Emil Kristensen (IK Oskarshamn), Philip Larsen (Edmonton Oilers), Stefan Lassen (Graz 99ers), Markus Lauridsen (Lake Erie Monsters), Oliver Lauridsen (Philadelphia Flyers);

forwards: Patrick Bjorkstrand (Medvescak Zagreb), Mikkel Bodker (Phoenix Coyotes),

Mads Christensen (Eisbaren Berlin), Morten Green (Schwenninger Wild Wings), Jannik Hansen (Vancouver Canucks), Julian Jakobsen (Hamburg Freezers), Jesper Jensen (Karlskrona HK), Nicklas Jensen (Vancouver Canucks), Morten Madsen (Hamburg Freezers), Anders Poulsen (Herning Blue Fox), Morten Poulsen (IK Oskarshamn), Thomas Spelling (SonderjyskE Vojens), Kim Staal (Starbulls Rosenheim), Frederik Storm (Malmo Redhawks).

Team Denmark arrived in MinskIn Minsk the Danish Lions will stay in the Renaissance Hotel. The team will open the championship against the current world champion Sweden at Chizhovka Arena on 10 May (Group A).

Denmark, the same as Belarus, failed to earn a spot for the Olympic Games in Sochi, giving the way to Team Slovenia. Over the recent ten years Denmark has got to the top eight at the world championships only once. It was in Germany in 2010 and this result is viewed as the best in the history of the Danish hockey so far.

Denmark was the team Belarus faced in its last friendly ahead of the 2014 IIHF World Championship. Andrei Stepanov scored three and Sergei Kostitsyn added two to bring Belarus a solid 5-2 win at Minsk Arena.
