Belarusian medicines to treat pneumonia, COVID-19 delivered to Kyrgyzstan

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) - Belarusian medicines to treat pneumonia and COVID-19 were delivered to Kyrgyzstan on 19 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Health.

“The Belarusian manufacturers promptly responded to Kyrgyzstan's request to supply medicines for pneumonia and COVID-19. In a short period of time, a cargo featuring five names of Belarusian-made medicines was prepared and shipped aboard the Kyrgyzstan PM’s plane,” the press service said.

All in all, the cargo was made up of about 30,000 packages of medicines, mainly antibiotics produced by the Belmedpreparaty company.

Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov hailed Belarus’ successes in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection at a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 17 July. He believes that the Belarusian experience in countering COVID-19 may be of interest to other countries. Kubatbek Boronov also commended the high quality of medicines produced in Belarus.

At the meeting of the prime ministers of the two countries on 17 July, the Belarusian side expressed readiness to provide Kyrgyzstan with the Belarusian-made medicines for pneumonia and COVID-19, and also the methodical recommendations on the treatment regimens.

According to Director General of the Belpharmprom pharmaceutical holding company Sergei Kazakevich, Belpharmprom was in charge of organizing the shipment on the instruction of the Belarusian government.
