Belarus, UAE intend to step up humanitarian cooperation

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Humanitarian cooperation was in focus of a meeting between First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Nikolai Selivanov and Hamad Al Ameri, the CEO of the  Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation in Minsk on 11 October, BelTA has learned.

The visit of the Emirati guest to Belarus takes place within the framework of the agreements reached between the two countries, including during the talks between Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Minsk in September.

According to Nikolai Selivanov, Belarus is open to international cooperation, including in humanitarian affairs. The Department of Humanitarian Affairs at the Belarus President Property Management Directorate is in charge of contacts in this area. Among the priority topics is recovery and treatment of children from the territories affected by the Chernobyl accident. This work is also carried out by Belarusian healthcare facilities, one of which belongs to the Belarus President Property Management Directorate.

The parties discussed the possibilities of implementing humanitarian programs and projects such as those related to children's health, and healthcare.

The Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation was established by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan in 1992. The agency cooperates with more than 160 countries around the world in various areas. The fund has designated more than $1 billion for humanitarian projects abroad and the same amount in the UAE.  It prioritizes projects in healthcare and education.
