Belarus receives humanitarian aid from UAE

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian National Research Center for Sports received humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates in response to the coronavirus pandemic on 18 June, BelTA learned from director of the center Irina Malevanaya.

Chairman of Emaar Properties Mohamed Ali Alabbar provided charitable assistance to the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry on behalf of the United Arab Emirates. “The cargo is more than 12 tonnes of personal protective equipment and antiseptics. A decision was taken to redirect the cargo to our organization," Irina Malevanaya said.

The aid will be used to maintain the necessary sanitary regime at the departmental facilities, safe conditions for the work of medical personnel and the training process. The National Olympic Committee and the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus provided significant assistance in delivering the cargo.

The National Research Center for Sports is the main national institution in the field of medical, scientific and methodological support of the training process of national teams and sports talent pool. During the pandemic, the center coordinates the work of regional sports medicine facilities, the country’s major sports facilities and the nationals centers of the Olympic reserve.
