Belarus to partake in CIS Coordination Council of Veteran Organizations in Moscow

MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) – A delegation of Belarusian veterans will pay a visit to Moscow on 2 June, BelTA learnt from the Labor and Social Security Ministry.

The delegation will comprise representatives of veteran organizations from Minsk, Vitebsk and Mogilev Oblasts.

Belarusian veterans will take part in a meeting of the presidium and plenum of the CIS Coordination Council of the International Union “Commonwealth of Public Veteran (Pensioner) Organizations of Independent States”. The presidium will discuss the activity of the committee of the all-Russian public organization “Russian Union of Veterans”. The agenda of the Coordination Council plenum will include the issues related to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the efforts of CIS veterans’ councils on further cohesiveness of the veteran movement, strengthening of friendship between the CIS peoples and resolute opposition to any manifestations of extremism and nationalism. At the plenum meeting Anatoly Novikov, Chairman of the National Council of the Belarusian Public Veterans’ Association, will present a report on the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in Belarus and social support of war veterans in the country.

Belarusian veterans are expected to meet representatives of the Moscow veteran organization and lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The visit of the Belarusian delegation is organized in line with the comprehensive social development program for 2011-2015.
