World Bank representatives to visit Belarus in April

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Representatives of the World Bank leadership will come to Belarus in April to discuss new projects, Belarus’ Vice Premier Anatoly Kalinin told media on 24 March, BelTA has learned.

According to Anatoly Kalinin, representatives of the World Bank have accepted Belarus’ invitation. A group of WB experts is expected in Belarus in mid April to examine the opportunities for the implementation of new projects.

The Vice Premier expressed confidence in further expansion of cooperation with the World Bank. “Belarus is open to such partnership. I am confident it will be continued,” he noted.

The World Bank was set up in 1944. The organization is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The bank comprises five organizations: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Development Association, the International Finance Corporation, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes. The organization has more than 120 offices across the globe. Belarus became a member of the World Bank in 1992. Over the years of cooperation the country has been provided with almost $1.5 billion of loans. A number of programs were supported with grants.
