Working groups on Ukraine resume talks in Minsk

MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) - The working groups of the trilateral contact group promoting peace settlement in Ukraine have resumed talks in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Twitter account of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The talks of the working groups will be followed by a meeting of the trilateral contact group in the OSCE-Ukraine-Russia format.

The previous talks on Ukraine were held in the Belarusian capital on 20 September. Martin Sajdik, the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine, described the situation in the eastern Ukraine after the participants of the working group on Ukraine confirmed their dedication to a timeless ceasefire in view of the beginning of the school year. According to the diplomat, the average number of ceasefire violations remains below the figure registered before 25 August, when the school armistice began. However, the participants of the talks remain concerned as this year’s civilian victims have so far included 383 people, with 68 people killed and 315 injured. It is absolutely unacceptable, stressed Martin Sajdik.
