Working group to devise Belarus’ development program for 2016-2020

MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – An inter-agency working group headed by Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky has been set up to draft a program of Belarus’ social and economic development for 2016-2020. The decision is stipulated in Resolution No.14 of the Council of Ministers of 12 January 2015, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

According to the document, the working group will perform a comprehensive analysis of Belarus’ social and economic development and its scientific and technical potential, specify the medium-term options for social and economic development of the country, and work out methodical recommendations for the development of the program. The draft program should be submitted to the agencies concerned till 25 January for the preparation of the forecast of the development of Belarus’ economic sectors and administrative and territorial units for five years. The draft concept should be submitted to the Presidium of the Council of Ministers for consideration till 24 January.

Government bodies and other state-run organizations subject to the government, oblast executive committees, and the Minsk City Hall have been instructed to study the medium-term options for Belarus’ social and economic development and the methodical recommendations for the development of the program, and on their basis prepare and present to the Belarusian Economy Ministry medium-term suggestions for the development of economic sectors and administrative and territorial units paying special attention to the key problems and mechanisms of their solution, including through the implementation of new investment projects.

Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky has been tasked with monitoring the implementation of the resolution.
