Work to amend Belarus’ Tax Code in progress

DZERZHYNSK, 27 December (BelTA) – Belarus’ Business Promotion Council has begun to revise the Tax Code, Chairman of the Council Alexander Turchin told the media on 27 December, BelTA informs.

“There is a lot of work ahead to revise the Tax Code. The Business Promotion Council has already started working on it. A working group will be set up under the government in January 2018,” he said.

The Business Promotion Council is now engaging experts in the process, the official added. “We have started to receive the first proposals. The document will be ready by 1 September 2018,” the official stated.

Alexander Turchin also commented on the prospects for Belarus’ business in 2018. “First of all, the package of documents adopted this year was a huge step towards promoting business. Secondly, according to the economic figures, the domestic and international economic situation has been improving. This is why we feel very optimistic about the future. Everything depends on us, however. No pain, no gain,” he added.

In January-November 2017, Belarus’ economic growth totaled 2.2%. “This was partly thanks to the businessmen since small and medium-sized businesses account for 25% of the GDP,” Alexander Turchin summarized.
