Work on direct flights between Minsk, New Delhi nearly over

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Belarus and India are finishing work on launching direct flights between the capital cities. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei mentioned it at a session of the Belarus-India intergovernmental commission in New Delhi, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Makei, direct flights will simplify travels for Belarusian and Indian tourists and will make a contribution to stronger ties between business circles.
Vladimir Makei is convinced that in view of the mutually complementary nature of the Belarusian economy and the Indian one it is possible to implement significant projects in trade, economy, and investment through joint efforts.
Vladimir Makei said: “We are interested in selling more potash fertilizers to India as well as machines, vehicles, and equipment, including haul trucks, agricultural products, flax fabric, the medications India does not make, petrochemical products, and woodworking products. In turn, we are interested in India as a manufacturer of the agricultural products that Belarus cannot make due to different climate conditions or the lack of the relevant manufacturing enterprise, medications, and pharmaceutical raw materials.”
According to the minister of foreign affairs, Belarus is ready to support a growing Indian industrial cluster, including through participation in government programs and the modernization of the Indian agriculture.
Both countries are making progress with setting up an enterprise to assemble Belarusian tractors, harvesters, and other agricultural machines in India, Vladimir Makei noted. The Belarusian side is ready to assist with developing urban infrastructure of India within the framework of the government program Smart Cities. “Our country can supply environmentally friendly electrobuses made by MAZ and Belkommunmash. It is also possible to set up joint manufacturing facilities,” he noted.
“We have to accomplish a lot to further advance economic cooperation in agribusiness, including the sharing of technologies and know-hows in growing agricultural crops, expanding the range of products we sell to India, including meat and dairy ones. Since the realization of joint projects depends heavily on business circles of the two countries, I suggest more actively involving representatives of the relevant business associations in these processes,” Vladimir Makei added.
