‘We must train specialists.’ Lukashenko calls for end to excessive army drills

‘We must train specialists.’ Lukashenko calls for end to excessive army drills

Borisov District, 23 May (BelTA) – At the solemn oath of enlistment ceremony, Belarusian President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Aleksandr Lukashenko underscored the objective of eliminating unnecessary drills from army life, BelTA has learned.

“The defense minister, the General Staff of the country, and all generals have been given a task: to move away from excessive drills in the army. In the army, we must train specialists who know how to operate equipment, how to handle their weapons, and who are strong in spirit and body as well as physically fit,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. “Our goal is to help these young men grow physically strong, return to civilian life as true men, and master the sophisticated weaponry our army possesses.”

Addressing the new recruits, the head of state told them they will become full-fledged warriors and defenders of their homeland. “Be proud of that. A real man must get a taste of a soldier’s life. What you are doing is not something just anyone can do. And let us be honest, not everyone even wants to. But you have made this step. I truly hope that after your service, this short chapter in your lives, you will stand tall as real men,” he said.

“I know it will not be easy. Not only because it is physically demanding. The hardest part will be adjusting psychologically to a completely new way of life. But we will do everything we can to make that transition easier for you,” the president assured them.
