Ways to ensure security amid West’s hybrid war against Belarus, Russia discussed

MOSCOW, 16 August (BelTA) – State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich met with Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev in Moscow on 16 August, BelTA learned from the council’s press service.

Key matters concerning ways to ensure security amid the aggressive policy of NATO and the hybrid war launched by Western countries against Russia and Belarus were discussed.

Aleksandr Volfovich and Nikolai Patrushev also discussed prospects of Belarus’ full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. A number of priority topics of Belarus-Russia cooperation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and other international organizations were discussed as well as prospects of the full membership of the Republic of Belarus in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the press service said.

Close attention was paid to interaction in the area of information security between the security councils and between individual agencies. The preparation of a draft information security concept of the Union State of Belarus and Russia was reviewed.

Aleksandr Volfovich and Nikolai Patrushev expressed concern about the growing probability of criminal, extremist, and terrorists structures getting their hands on the weapons the West supplies Kiev with. Opinions about the situation in Ukraine were exchanged. It was stressed that the Ukrainian government’s deliberate provocations with express connivance of the West with regard to nuclear installations represent a substantial threat to European and global nuclear and radiation safety.

In conclusion Aleksandr Volfovich and Nikolai Patrushev discussed preparations for the events to be held within the framework of cooperation between the Belarusian and Russian security councils.
