MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Venezuela Oleg Paferov met with members of the Venezuelan parliament on 16 January, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.

In particular, Oleg Paferov met with Jose Alfredo Urena, the coordinator of the subcommission for agriculture and food development, member of the Finance and Economic Development Commission, and Orangel Jose Lopez Rodriguez, member of the Energy and Oil Commission.

The sides discussed the creation of a Venezuela-Belarus friendship group in the Venezuelan parliament. The group is meant to expand the range of bilateral cooperation, including interparliamentary cooperation.

The sides reached an agreement on stepping up cooperation in agriculture and power engineering. A joint trip to the State of Guarico was planned for the sake of looking into matters concerning the construction of an agro-town by the Belarusian side and negotiations with the governor of the state.
