MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) - Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will travel to Belarus on the first official visit on 31 July-1 August, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Nasirdjan Yusupov told a press briefing, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat noted that the parties are actively preparing for the event. “In the run-up and during the official visit of the head of Uzbekistan, we together with Belarusian partners will hold a number of activities in Minsk. These include the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan, the national exhibition “Made in Uzbekistan”, a ceremony to open a bust to the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi, and the Uzbekistan Culture Days,” the ambassador informed.

Nasirdjan Yusupov expressed confidence that the forthcoming official visit of the head of Uzbekistan to Belarus will raise bilateral cooperation to a higher, qualitatively new level.

The ambassador also highlighted the importance of the Belarusian president’s official visit to Uzbekistan in September 2018 which “opened a new page in the history of Belarus-Uzbek relations and filled them with practical content.”

The parties are expected to examine the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level in Tashkent and prospects for further bilateral contracts.
