Universities to sign ten agreements at forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia

MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – Universities are set to sign ten agreements at the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development of the Council of the Republic Viktor Liskovich said during a working meeting to discuss prepartions for the fifth section of the forum in the upper house of Belarusian Parliament, BelTA has learned.
"The Council of the Republic is actively preparing for the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which will be held in Grodno in June. Recently, we held a joint meeting with Russian colleagues. Now we are working on each of the six sections,” Viktor Liskovich said. “Today, we are looking into the issues related to the fifth section ‘Integration of the higher education system of Russia and Belarus: regional aspect’. While preparing for the forum, we are trying to account the best practices of our countries to facilitate the development of the higher education system in the Union State, and also the education of young people and their acquisition of the necessary, useful knowledge in the future.”
A large exhibition "Education of Belarus and Russia: Traditions, Continuity, Innovations" will be launched at the Kupala State University of Grodno which will feature more than 20 universities of the two countries. "The exposition will display the latest educational smart technologies, innovations, knowledge that are much needed today in the context of digital society and smart economy," the chairman of the commission said.
On the fringe of the Forum of Regions, Belarusian universities will establish closer ties with educational institutions from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novokuznetsk, Tambov, Vladivostok and other cities.
The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia is held annually under the auspices of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. The 9th Forum of Regions will be themed around "The role of interregional cooperation in promoting the integration in the Union State".
