Union State MPs to discuss development of food clusters

MOSCOW, 10 March (BelTA) – Interregional Cooperation in the Union State: Experience, Problems, Prospects is the theme of a regular meeting of the Belarus-Russia Union State Parliamentary Assembly’s permanent seminar on the Union State development. The meeting is due to take place in Veliky Novgorod on 23-25 March, BelTA learnt from the Union State PA press service.

“The event will focus on the increasing role of regional partnership in Belarus-Russia integration and the development of the import-substituting policy. In this respect mutually beneficial cooperation between Belarusian oblasts and Russian regions plays an important role in addressing issues of the social and economic development of the Union State member states,” the press service said.

The seminar will discuss the following issues: the development of food clusters within the framework of the Belarusian-Russian interregional cooperation, interregional cooperation as a factor to accelerate economic integration in the Union State, the Union State programs as a way to implement the industrial policy of Belarus and Russia, the improvement of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation mechanism in the Union State projects and programs.

Partaking in the seminar will be MPs of the Parliamentary Assembly, representatives of the Union State Permanent Committee, ministries and agencies of Russia and Belarus, Russian regions and Belarusian oblasts, academic figures, heads of companies and organizations of the two countries.

The program of the seminar will include visits to industrial companies in Veliky Novgorod, including Lactis Company where the Union State program BelRosTransgen-2 was implemented. The company developed technologies and trial production of highly-effective and biologically safe medications of a new generation and food products based on human lactoferrin.

Founded in 2006, the Union State PA permanent seminar gathers politicians, scientists, businessmen and other supporters of the Belarusian-Russian integration to discuss current important issues related to the Union State development.
