Travel regulations for Brest tourist zone, Augustow Canal Park specified

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian government has adopted travel regulations for the Brest tourist and recreation zone, the special tourist and recreation park Augustow Canal and the adjacent territories. The relevant decision is stipulated in Council of Ministers resolution No.1017 of 28 December 2017, BelTA learned from the press service of the government.

In particular, the resolution envisages a ten-day period of stay for foreign tourists visiting the Brest tourist and recreation zone and the special tourist and recreation park Augustow Canal. The document applies to foreign nationals of the states that are eligible for visa-free entry into Belarus under presidential decree No.462 on the introduction of visa-free entry and departure for foreign citizens.

According to the new regulations, foreign nationals shall use the checkpoints mentioned in the decree to enter Belarus to visit the Brest tourist and recreation zone and the Augustow Canal and depart from the country. The period of visa-free stay for foreign tourists entering and leaving Belarus via the checkpoints is equal to the duration of the tour provided by the tour operators working in the Brest tourist and recreation zone and the Augustow Canal park.

If an individual wants to purchase additional tourist services, he or she shall apply to the tour operators working in the Brest tourist and recreation zone and the Augustow Canal Park to extend the period of stay. The duration of the tour shall not exceed the period defined in the present resolution.

In line with the resolution, the citizens can use several documents to arrive in the Brest tourist and recreation zone and the Augustow Canal Park: a valid passport or its substitute issued by the relevant national government body or an international organization, and also a document granting the right to visit the Brest tourist and recreation zone and the Augustow Canal park in the form stipulated in the resolution. No fees shall be charged for filling in and issuing the travel permission document.

The resolution shall come into force on 1 January 2018.
