MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Three models for introducing 5G technology are under consideration. Belarusian Communications and Informatization Minister Konstantin Shulgan made the statement as he met with representatives of cell carriers, telecommunications companies, and representatives of public organizations, BelTA has learned.

The infrastructure model expects an infrastructure operator to build the one infrastructure for a 5G network.

In line with the competitive model every cell carrier will build passive and active infrastructure for 5G networks on its own. Expenses may be optimized if the cell carriers work together to build the traffic transport infrastructure (fiber optic communications lines).

The joint use of passive infrastructure model expects that every cell carrier will build active infrastructure for 5G networks (radio equipment) within the allocated radio frequency spectrum on its own while the infrastructure operator will be the one to build passive infrastructure (the traffic transport network, cell towers, fiber optic communications lines).
