MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) - A regular round of talks to secure peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine is underway in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the previous meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on 17 January, OSCE's special representative in the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik said that the Economic Working Group agreed to conduct an audit of the “Voda Donbasa” company, with ICRC assistance. The diplomat stressed that the “Voda Donbasa” company operates on both the sides of the conflict line and is vital for Donetsk Oblast.
Speaking about the results of 2018, the OSCE’s special representative said that the number of civilian casualties in the conflict zone in Donbass decreased by more than half compared with 2017. He also mentioned the Statement by the Trilateral Contact Group on recommitment to the ceasefire adopted in late 2018 on the occasion of the New Year and Christmas holidays. As its result, the number of ceasefire violations from 29 December to the day before yesterday decreased by more than half compared with the previous two-week period. According to the diplomat, there were no civilian casualties during the period.
