MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Member of the Federal Council of Switzerland, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs Ignazio Cassis is set to visit Belarus on 12-13 February. This will be the first visit of an official of Switzerland of such a level to Belarus in the history of bilateral relations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The program of the visit will include talks with the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs and participation in a ceremony to inaugurate Switzerland's Embassy in Belarus.
“Ignazio Cassis will be accompanied by First Vice President of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland Andreas Aebi who has been co-chairman of the parliamentary Belarus-Switzerland group of friendship since 2017. The delegation will also comprise former MPs and co-chairpersons of the parliamentary group of friendship Margret Kiener Nellen and Filippo Lombardi,” the ministry said.
The deputy chairperson of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus is expected to meet with the parliamentary part of the Swiss delegation.
