Sultan of Oman arrives in Belarus on official visit

MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman arrived in Belarus on an official visit, BelTA has learned.

The negotiations between the leaders will be held at the Palace of Independence in Minsk in the evening of 6 October. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said are set to review the progress in implementing the agreements reached in December 2024 during the visit of the Belarusian president and to discuss the promising avenues and ways to deepen cooperation in various fields. The main emphasis is on deepening trade and economic cooperation.

Following the negotiations, the parties are set to sign a number of international documents. It is expected that these will include an agreement on the mutual abolition of visas, the draft of which was approved by Aleksandr Lukashenko on 1 October.

In turn, the Omani side has announced that the visit will take place on 6-7 October and is being conducted within the context of developing relations between Oman and Belarus and expanding their horizons in line with the aspirations of both countries. “The visit will focus on the areas of cooperation between the two countries in various fields and ways to enhance it for the sake of mutual interests. The leaders of the two countries are expected to exchange views on a number of current regional and international issues. His Majesty the Sultan will be accompanied by a high-level official delegation during the visit,” the Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
