Steps to guide Belarus-Hungary cooperation agreed

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko visited Hungary on 30 November – 1 December, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

While in Hungary Oleg Kravchenko met with Zsolt Csutora, Deputy State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Bilateral cooperation was discussed as well as the expansion of trade, economic, and humanitarian relations, including in view of Belarus’ presidency in the Central European Initiative. The sides agreed further steps on fulfilling the arrangements made during the meeting of the Belarusian and Hungarian prime ministers on 27 November.

Oleg Kravchenko met with Levente Benko, Deputy State Secretary, Political Director of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The expansion of the Belarus-European Union dialogue was discussed as well as results of the recent Eastern Partnership Initiative summit in Brussels, the development of the situation and the state of security in the region. The Belarusian delegation informed Hungarian colleagues about the Belarus president’s initiative in favor of starting discussing a new Helsinki Process.

On 30 November Oleg Kravchenko took part in a Belarusian-Hungarian business forum, which had been organized by the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries. Over 60 Hungarian and Belarusian companies were represented during the forum. The Belarusian side informed forum participants about opportunities for doing business in Belarus, about priority directions in advancing Belarus-Hungary trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Close attention was paid to the operation of the Eurasian Economic Union. Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko met with the Belarusian investment agent Jeno Faller on the sidelines of the forum.

Oleg Kravchenko and Istvan Ijgyarto, Minister of State for Cultural and Science Diplomacy of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired the eighth session of the Belarusian-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation on 1 December. Topical aspects of Belarus-Hungary trade and economic cooperation were discussed as well as the fulfillment of the arrangements made by the previous session of the commission. A session of the working group on tourism took place as well as consultations about standardization and accreditation, healthcare industry, trade, and civil engineering.

The minutes and a number of documents were signed as a result of the commission’s session. The number includes a memorandum on cooperation in accreditation, an agreement on cooperation between the National Marketing Center and the Hungarian Trading House, an agreement on cooperation between the Republican Confederation of Entrepreneurship of Belarus and a Hungarian civil engineering confederation, and a joint action program for implementing the agreement on cooperation in tourism between the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry in 2018-2021. According to the minutes of the session, the text of the Belarusian-Hungarian agreement on the mutual protection of investments was agreed.
