MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - Head of the State Duma Commission on the Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia's Internal Affairs Vasily Piskarev suggested setting up a joint commission with Belarus to combat foreign interference in the affairs of the two countries, TASS informs.

According to Vasily Piskarev, such attempts to interfere are conducted by the same foreign non-governmental organizations and foundations.

“Today I suggested uniting our efforts with Belarusian MPs, because there are the same foreign funds and NGOs which interfere in the affairs of Russia and Belarus. They are the same, and the methods are the same,” Vasily Piskarev told the media on the sidelines of the conference “Countering external challenges and threats: the parliamentary dimension of the Union State”.

According to him, the same methods are used to involve children and young people of Russia and Belarus into unlawful protest actions and the same social networks are used for that. “Today, the Belarusians said: the same thing is happening to us, the same problems. That is why I suggested setting up a joint commission which would provide a more operational response to these challenges,” Vasily Piskarev said.
