Stamps canceled in Minsk to mark 25 years of Belarus-Romania diplomatic relations

MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – A number of stamps were cancelled in the National Art Museum in Minsk to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Belarus-Romania diplomatic relations, BelTA has learned.

Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, First Deputy Communications and Informatization Minister Dmitry Shedko, and Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor-Viorel Melescanu took part in the ceremony.

Each stamp costs enough to send unregistered international mail (letters and small parcels) with the weight of under 20g.

As many as 15,000 copies of the stamp sheet have been published. Their images were inspired by works of prominent Belarusian and Romanian painters.

A presentation of the Belarusian edition of a book of poetry by the Romanian writer Mihai Eminescu also took place in the National Art Museum in honor of the 25th anniversary of Belarus-Romania diplomatic relations.

Vladimir Makei underlined the special importance of the events. He noted that culture is a bridge that always brings people closer.

The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs said he was confident that the events would make their own contribution to the advancement of Belarusian-Romanian cooperation across the board.
