Stable social, economic development named cornerstone of Belarus’ government policy

MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – Belarus’ authorities prioritize the country’s stable social and economic development, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov told reporters on 5 May during the international conference Understanding Belarus Security held as part of the non-governmental expert initiative Minsk Dialogue, BelTA has learned.

“The economic aspect remains a key security dimension for Belarus. This is why the political leadership prioritize the country’s stable social and economic development and the efforts to improve the quality of life of people,” Valentin Rybakov noted.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign affairs added that Belarus promotes its image as a peace-loving country in the international arena. However, the absence of unfounded geopolitical ambitions does not mean that Belarus is ready to give up its national interests which it will continue to defend.

“Belarus is a reliable and predictable partner that has no conflicts in its territory and does not cause problems to its neighbors, which is a value in itself these days. Moreover, in protecting its own security, Belarus does not infringe upon the security interests of other countries,” Valentin Rybakov stressed.
