MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Starting 25 May, Sri Lanka will be issuing e-visas to Belarusian citizens at no cost, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told journalists following the meeting with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, BelTA has learned.

“I would like to thank my colleague for the decision to provide Belarusian citizens arriving in Sri Lanka with visas free of charge,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.

According to him, starting 25 May, e-visas for Belarusian tourists and business representatives will be issued at no cost.

Maxim Ryzhenkov noted in this regard that tourism is one of the most important areas of cooperation between the countries. The impetus for its development was given with the launching of direct charter flights between Belarus and Sri Lanka in 2025.

"I am very pleased to say that, according to our joint calculations, about 10,000 Belarusians visited this wonderful country last year. This allowed them to experience the hospitality and rich traditions of its people," he said.
