Social protection and employment promotion program approved in Belarus

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) - Belarus approved the state program on social protection and employment promotion in 2016-2020. The relevant decision is contained in Resolution No. 73 issued by the Council of Ministers on 30 January 2016. The document was published on the national legal Internet portal.

Commenting on the document, the Labor and Social Security Ministry noted that one of the priorities of the state policy is to create conditions for qualitative human development, healthy and dignified life of people. This is what the new program is aimed for. Its goal is to develop a system of social security of the population through raising the efficiency of employment policy, improving the conditions of labor protection, creating a barrier-free environment, ensuring the social integration of the disabled and the elderly.

According to the ministry, a set of activities will be implemented to keep the level of registered unemployment within 1.5 -2% of the economically active population; reduce the rate of industrial injuries and occupational disease; stabilize the severity rate of primary disability of persons of working age; make more priority social objects available for the disabled and physically handicapped persons; provide needy citizens with technical means of rehabilitation and social services.

The state program comprises five subprograms: Employment Promotion, Occupational Health, Prevention of Disability and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, Barrier-Free Environment, Social Integration of Disabled and Senior Citizens.
