Sharif wants closer cooperation between Belarusian, Pakistani MPs

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif deems it necessary to advance cooperation between the chambers of the Belarusian and Pakistani parliaments. He made the statement at the meeting with Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko in Minsk on 11 August, BelTA has learned.

“Our countries have bicameral parliaments. We need to work together to bolster cooperation between the chambers of the Belarusian and Pakistani parliaments. It is also important to exchange visits of the delegations of our parliamentary structures,” Nawaz Sharif said.

The prime minister noted that he listened to all the proposals of the speakers of the National Assembly and thanked the Belarusian side for hospitality and a warm welcome. “Pakistan values warm and cordial relations with the Republic of Belarus. First of all, it is the merit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko who has paid an official visit to our country. My colleagues and I have good memories of the visit as it has laid the foundation of Belarus-Pakistan interaction,” the premier remarked.

Nawaz Sharif also added that Pakistan is interested in the enhancement of ties with Belarus in all fields, including economy, defense, education, etc.
