Semashko, Roscosmos discuss expansion of Russia-Belarus ERS systems

MOSCOW, 21 March (BelTA) – A possibility to expand the existing orbital constellation of earth remote sensing systems was discussed at the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko with Director General of the Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

Taking part in the meeting were also senior officials of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as well as top executives of Peleng and Geoinformation Systems.

“The parties discussed a possibility to expand the existing Russian-Belarusian orbital constellation of earth remote sensing systems, to implement interstate space programs within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Belarus-Russia Union State. They shared views on the conceptual design of the Russian-Belarusian spacecraft. The work on the spacecraft was launched in 2018. This will be an earth remote sensing system providing high-resolution earth observation. The parties agreed to keep in close contact and exchange visits.
