Second Forum of Regions to discuss Union State industrial policy

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – The participants of the Second Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia to be held in Sochi on 17-18 September will discuss the industrial policy of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Anatoly Rusetsky told journalists on 10 September, BelTA has learned.

The plenary session of the forum will be followed by work in sections to talk over the ways to implement the key principles and tasks of the industrial policy of Belarus and Russia. Union State programs will be viewed as a tool of structural and industrial policy.

Anatoly Rusetsky noted that, in general, Belarus, Russia, and other countries of the EEU achieved the most tangible results in the area of industrial policy. For example, the Union State has plans to adopt a plan for implementation of the structural and industrial policy in the near future. Anatoly Rusetsky recalled that the participants of the session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council that took place in Grodno earlier this week signed a document specifying the guidelines for the EEU industrial policy.

Anatoly Rusetsky said that the documents complement each other and should help the countries fulfill the common tasks like, for example, eliminate barriers to the free movement of goods in the EEU and ensure equal access of enterprises to public procurement contacts.

“Naturally, we should develop a unified approach to supporting our enterprises and protecting the internal market. We should manufacture enough new products to satisfy the demand in the domestic market and to sell abroad,” Anatoly Rusetsky stressed. The approximation of laws will also be discussed at the forum. “In Sochi, we will have a chance to thoroughly discuss all the pressing problems, from the issues we face in the real sector of economy to legal regulation of business activities,” Anatoly Rusetsky added.
