MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan on 14-15 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit’s program features top-level and high-level meetings, along with the opening of the Belarusian Consulate General in Almaty, a Stock Exchange Forum, and new Belarusian trade facilities. Maxim Ryzhenkov will also visit Kazakhstan-based enterprises with Belarusian investment.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan were established on 16 September 1992. Both countries have opened embassies. The presidents of the two states hold regular bilateral talks, including on integration platforms. The legal framework for cooperation comprises more than 80 international agreements, with the foundational document being the Interstate Treaty on Socio-Economic Cooperation until 2026.
Kazakhstan is among Belarus’ most important markets, including among CIS countries. The Belarus-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation has been active since its establishment in 1996. Regular bilateral meetings are held by the Subcommission on Industrial Cooperation and Mutual Trade, the Working Group on Promising Areas of Agricultural Cooperation, and the Joint Commission on International Road Transport. Coordination of scientific and technical cooperation is carried out under the Belarusian-Kazakh Commission on Scientific and Technical Cooperation, and meetings of the Belarus-Kazakhstan Business Cooperation Council are also held.
