Rybakov discusses Chernobyl cooperation prospects with Helen Clark

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov has met with UNDP Administrator Helen Clark, who is completing her service at the post, in New York to discuss the prospects of international cooperation on the Chernobyl-related matters, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The Belarusian diplomat expressed gratitude to Helen Clark for her dedicated service both at the post of the UNDP administrator and as a coordinator of the UN international cooperation on Chernobyl, her personal contribution to the Chernobyl cooperation development. The parties exchanged opinions on the prospects of international cooperation on the Chernobyl-related matters within the context of the new resolution on Chernobyl adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2016,” the ministry said.

In April 2016 the President of Belarus awarded the Francysk Skaryna Order to UNDP Administrator Helen Clark in recognition of her significant personal contribution to the development of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the United Nations to ensure comprehensive rehabilitation and sustainable development of the regions affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
