Ryazan Oblast seeks cooperation with Belarus in culture, education, sport

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – Ryazan Oblast shows interest in developing cooperation with Belarus in the areas such as culture, education and sport, First Deputy Chairman of the Ryazan Oblast Government Sergei Samokhin said at the opening of Expo-Russia Belarus 2015, BelTA has learned.

“The trade turnover between Ryazan Oblast and Belarus is on a constant increase, and we are interested in keeping this trend. We are ready to cooperate not only in the industrial, trade and economic spheres but also in the areas such as culture, education and sport,” noted Sergei Samokhin.

Ryazan Oblast is represented at Expo-Russia Belarus by 14 companies. “All of them are ready for fruitful cooperation. In September 2015 Ryazan Oblast signed a memorandum of cooperation with Mogilev Oblast. I believe that our region will find new partners at the exposition,” Sergei Samokhin added.

Chairman of the Board of Belcoopsoyuz Valery Ivanov stressed that Expo-Russia Belarus opens an opportunity for strengthening interregional cooperation. “We see that there is interest in it. The exposition will provide an opportunity to establish contacts with representatives of various sectors in order to discuss promising projects in detail,” he said.

Expo-Russia Belarus 2015 is running in Minsk on 24-26 November. Its focus is on mechanical engineering and auto industry, metallurgy and energy, including nuclear energy, chemical industry, transport, construction, aviation and space exploration, telecommunications and communication, medicine and pharmaceutics, the agro industrial complex, education, investment projects and many more. The business program includes a conference to discuss the prospects of expanding economic and innovative cooperation between Russia and Belarus in the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union, thematic roundtables and a business matchmaking session.

The national exhibition center BelExpo showcases expositions of more than 100 Belarusian and Russian companies.

The expo has been organized by OAO ZarubezhExpo, and co-organized by the International Association of Peace Foundations (Russia) and the national exhibition center BelExpo (Belarus). The expo is aimed at strengthening the economic, humanitarian, social, cultural, and political ties between Russia and Belarus.
