26.MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) - President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko met with Governor of Primorye Territory Oleg Kozhemyako in Vladivostok, BelTA learned from the NOC press service.

The parties discussed cooperation in sports and praised the progress reached in the area over the past two years. Viktor Lukashenko noted that some Belarusian athletes held training camps in Primorye prior to the 2020 Olympic Games and performed well in Tokyo afterwards. “In September 2022 Vladivostok hosted a canoe sprint event that also featured our leading athletes, who spoke positively about the organization of the tournament. Belarus is ready to further expand cooperation with Primorye and propose new projects,” the NOC head said.

Oleg Kozhemyako, in turn, thanked the the opportunity Belarus provided for teams and athletes of Primorye Territory to hold training camps in Belarus. For example, HC Admiral did so prior to the start of the new KHL season.

“For the participation in competitions in the Asia-Pacific region, our infrastructure will be very convenient for Belarusian athletes. Primorye Territory actively cooperates with Belarus in the economic area and sports. We have purchased ice pouring machines, ski trailers and other high-quality equipment, which the athletes of our region need. Many modern sports facilities have been built in Belarus, and we are interested in the country’s design solutions that we could consider for the construction of a hockey center, a track and field arena and a rhythmic gymnastics complex. I hope that with the help of our Belarusian partners and your experience in the construction of sports facilities, these projects will be implemented much faster in our region,” Oleg Kozhemyako said.

The president of the NOC of Belarus and the head of Primorye Territory emphasized the importance of cooperation of Belarus and the Far Eastern region of the Russian Federation in the economic sector and sports for dynamic development of relations in the Union State.
