Rapota reveals agendas for Union State Council of Ministers, Supreme State Council sessions

MOSCOW, 8 June (BelTA) – The agenda of the forthcoming session of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State will feature about 15 issues, while the Supreme State Council of the Union State will discuss around 10 issues, BelTA learnt from State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota.

The agendas for these sessions were finalized in Moscow on 7 June at the session of the High-Level Group of the Union State Council of Ministers. Attending the meeting were First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky and First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of Russia Anton Siluanov.

According to Grigory Rapota, the agendas of the both sessions will be dominated by cooperation in mechanical engineering, agricultural industry, and food supplies. Speaking about food supplies the Union State chief noted that the parties should work out a set of instruments that will help avoid conflicts like the dairy dispute in the future. In particular, he believes that the two countries need to improve interaction of information systems and to certify laboratories that could deal with disputable issues.

“Other points of the agenda include cooperation of customs services; this area also has some problem points. In other words, the parties will discuss the entire spectrum of issues of mutual interest,” Grigory Rapota noted.

The session of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State will take place in Moscow on 13 June, while the Supreme State Council of the Union State will convene in Minsk on 19 June.
