Qatar seeks to raise relations with Belarus to higher level

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) - Qatar seeks to raise its relations with Belarus to a higher level, Charge d'Affaires of Qatar in Belarus Meshaal Al-Attiyah said at a ceremony to mark the National Day of Qatar on 12 December, BelTA has learned.

“The State of Qatar is proud of the level of strong relations between our friendly countries. Last year the countries celebrated the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations,” he said. “Since the establishment of these relations in 1996 there have been many bright pages, including the exchange of visits at the highest level, which resulted in the establishment of the Qatari-Belarusian Cooperation Committee, which gave a strong impetus to our relations.”

As a result of numerous mutual visits of officials of the two countries at various levels, the governments have signed 26 agreements and memorandums of understanding. This has laid a solid foundation for building constructive relations in various fields.

“The State of Qatar highly appreciates the level of close and strong relations that bind our countries, and we constantly strive to raise them to a higher level in the future under the leadership of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko,” said Meshaal al-Attiyah.

“The State of Qatar looks forward to a speedy resolution of all the difficulties and crises that have recently arisen in the region and at the international level. This will make it possible to work together with our Belarusian friends to develop and strengthen cooperation in all areas, so that we could reach the level of our relations the two countries strive for. We are ready to do everything possible to achieve these goals,” the diplomat added.

In his words, there have been many opportunities to get familiar with the beautiful and hospitable Belarus since the first day of his stay in the country. “We were impressed by the level of development achieved in various areas and the tireless efforts the Belarusian state is making to achieve more progress,” he noted.

“Qatar is aware that the world is going through difficult times. We too have faced difficulties in our region, but we have managed to overcome them. I would like to assure all our friends that the State of Qatar will not hesitate to help and support them to achieve greater prosperity. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all our Belarusian friends who are involved in the development and strengthening of Qatari-Belarusian relations,” the diplomat stressed.
