Prosecutor general's offices of Belarus, Moldova step up cooperation

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – The prosecutor general’s offices of Belarus and Moldova will strengthen cooperation, Belarus’ Prosecutor General’s Office noted following a working meeting between the heads of the two government bodies Alexander Konyuk and Eduard Harunjen in Minsk, BelTA informs.

The prosecutors general discussed international legal cooperation in investigating criminal cases, exchanged experience in fighting crime and corruption, and also in economic oversight. The sides harmonized a draft interdepartmental cooperation agreement to regulate Belarus-Moldova interaction at the stage of preliminary investigation and consideration of citizens’ requests, and also the exchange of sensitive information related with criminal cases.

“The visit of our Moldovan colleagues will strengthen professtional relations between the two prosecutor generals’ offices and will give a new impetus to our joint fight against crime and corruption. This will contribute to a better understanding between us in the protection of the rights and interests of our citizens,” Alexander Konyuk noted.

Eduard Harunjen, in turn, thanked the Belarusian colleagues for the warm welcome. He said he is ready to ensure the closest possible cooperation between the two government bodies and invited Alexander Konyuk to make a return visit to Chisinau.
