Prosecutor general’s offices of Belarus, Georgia agree to step up cooperation

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – The prosecutor general’s offices of Belarus and Georgia have agreed to intensify cooperation, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Prosecutor General’s Office, following the working meeting between the heads of the watchdog agencies of the two countries in Minsk on 16 August.

The meeting will promote further development of mutual cooperation between the supervisory agencies of the two countries. Prosecutor General of Belarus Alexander Konyuk and Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Irakli Shotadze discussed cooperation against crime and corruption, supervisory activities of the prosecution agencies in the economic sector, protection of the rights of individuals and legal entities. The parties also exchange opinions on other aspects of the prosecution activities.

Attending the meeting on Belarus’ behalf was also Deputy Prosecutor General Aleksei Stuk, Prosecutor for Minsk Oblast Oleg Lavrukhin, heads of the structural subdivisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The Georgian delegation comprised First Deputy Chief Prosecutor Mamuka Vasadze, Regional Prosecutor of Kakheti Vazha Panozishvili, head of the economic department of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office Merab Murghulia.
